Flash Widgets

Flash is great for Mini Apps!

Flash is a program we use to create mini applications and to work with widgets that are sold online by a large community of developers - some supply things for free in much the same way the open source community does and others sell flash applications on a commercial basis.

Over the years the usage of Flash has changed quite dramatically. It is rare for anybody but large media companies and photographers/illustrators/designers with portfolios to use Flash to construct complete web interfaces. The development costs are too high and, although it is very flexible from a design point of view, the integration of Flash built web sites with complex databases and user input interfaces is a very specialised area - only companies with a dedicated team of Flash artists and developers can make full use of the extensive capabilities of this software.

Nevertheless we love this software - it is great for integrating small applications into web sites using traditional methods of site construction and creating animations and delivering video. Our gallery on the front page uses Flash to deliver images into an interface that is easily configured and delivers images using a simple folder structure and text documents (xml). If you or a member of staff would like to upload images to this kind interface and have a basic knowledge of working within a server environment, it is a snip to create large image portfolios. Well - it is probably better to let you have a look!

products. We can put photographic images into the interface
and turn it into a 360 degree viewer. It could be used for
high value products or if you have a hotel or restaurant
to give a view of the surroundings.

We avoid using Flashing Banners!
They are not only extremely irritating and visually disruptive,
there are also issues about viewers' health - some conditions
can be triggered by flashing images - not a very good thing
to do to your customers. Editorial animation should be
randomised where possible!

An on line magazine that emulates the real world! Grab the page
corners and turn the page just as you would when reading a real
magazine or click on the corner and it will do it for you -
nice for restaurants, hotels or any business that wants to give
their products a luxury feel - the magazine is configurable
and can include video files and more user interaction.
